A Swiss lager strain that produces neutral, highly drinkable beer with high attenuation and fast sedimentation.
Fermentation guidance
One 11.5g sachet is listed for 20-30L of wort. The working range is 9-22 degrees C, with 15-20 degrees C identified as ideal. Follow the current sachet for pitching rate and temperature, especially for stronger or colder lager fermentations.
Compare Fermentis lager yeast strains
These bottom-fermenting strains produce different balances of neutrality, fruitiness and sedimentation. Match the yeast quantity and fermentation temperature to the wort volume, gravity and intended lager style.
- SafLager S-23 – Berlin-origin strain for fruitier, more estery lager styles.
- SafLager W-34/70 – widely used German lager strain with high sedimentation and a clean profile.
Important: Yeast strains are not interchangeable. Use the pitching rate, temperature and handling directions for the exact sachet and recipe.
