Black Rock Unhopped Ultra Light is a pale, smooth liquid malt extract made from 100% New Zealand lager malt with added maltose syrup. Because it is unhopped, it adds fermentable malt, body and flavour without increasing bitterness.
- Pack size: 1.7kg
- Typical colour: 3 SRM / approximately 5 ± 2 EBC
- Unhopped
What to use it with
Use it instead of simple sugar with light beer kits where a fuller all-malt result is wanted. It is especially suited to lagers, pilsners and pale ales, including Black Rock Lager and Black Rock Draught.
It can also form the malt base of an extract recipe when paired with suitable hops and yeast.
For step-by-step help with preparation, fermentation, gravity checks and bottling, see our beer brewing guide.
Other Black Rock unhopped extracts
- Black Rock Unhopped Wheat – a wheat-and-lager-malt extract for wheat-led styles.
- Black Rock Unhopped Dark – a dark extract for porters, stouts and dark ales.
All three add malt without hop bitterness, but colour, grain composition and suitable beer styles differ. Follow a tested recipe and account for the full extract quantity.
