The Mad Millie Thermometer is a compact stainless-steel thermometer with a clip for attaching it to the side of a pot or suitable vessel. It helps monitor the temperature-sensitive stages of cheese, yoghurt and other kitchen fermentation recipes.
Using the thermometer
- Clip it securely to the vessel so the sensing area is immersed in the liquid.
- Keep the tip clear of the base of the pot, which can give a falsely high reading.
- Read the temperature at eye level and follow the recipe’s target range.
- Clean and dry after use.
Helpful addition
Pair it with a 3 ml pipette when a recipe also calls for small, accurately measured liquid additions.
Related cheese and cultured-food equipment
The thermometer handles temperature monitoring. When a recipe also calls for straining fine curds, soft cheese or yoghurt, use Mad Millie Butter Muslin for the draining stage. The thermometer and muslin perform separate jobs and are not substitutes.
