This alcoholmeter measures the alcohol strength of clean, distilled spirit on a 0–100% ABV Tralles scale, with a corresponding proof scale and instructions included.
How to use it
Float the alcoholmeter freely in a clean, suitably tall test cylinder containing enough sample to keep it clear of the base and sides. Allow bubbles to disperse, then read the scale at the liquid surface.
The instrument is calibrated at 20°C. Temperature differences can affect the reading, so bring the sample close to 20°C or apply an appropriate correction.
Important limitation
Use this alcoholmeter only with clean spirit-and-water mixtures. Sugar, flavouring, liqueur base and other dissolved ingredients change the liquid density and make a direct ABV reading unreliable.

Confirm that the alcometer floats freely in the chosen vessel. For a separate longer 285mm instrument format, compare the Pure Distilling Longer Alcometer.
