A colour-banded hydrometer for checking liquid density during beer, wine, cider and spirit-wash fermentation.
How to use it
Float it freely in a clean trial jar without touching the sides, spin gently to release bubbles and read at eye level according to the supplied scale. Record starting and final readings, correcting for temperature if the instrument instructions require it.
Sanitise sampling equipment and do not return a tested sample to the fermenter.
What else you will need
Use a suitable sample vessel such as the plastic Hydrometer Test Jar or glass Hydrometer Test Jar, allowing enough depth for the instrument to float freely.
