A flexible electric heat belt for helping keep beer, wine, cider or spirit washes within their required fermentation range during cold weather. It can be used with many plastic or glass fermenters.
How to use a fermenter heat belt
- Fit the belt around the fermenter according to the supplied instructions.
- Position it lower for more heating effect or higher for gentler heat.
- Monitor the actual liquid temperature with a suitable thermometer.
- Switch it off or move it higher if the brew approaches the top of the yeast’s recommended range.
Helpful addition
Add a Stick-on Thermometer Strip to the fermenter so you can see when heating is needed and avoid running the brew above the yeast’s preferred range.
A heat belt adds warmth but does not actively cool the fermenter. Room temperature, batch size and belt position all affect the result, so check the brew regularly rather than relying on time alone.
