Light unhopped dry malt is a spray-dried malt extract that adds fermentable sugars while retaining more malt flavour and body than simple sugar. It is useful in beer-kit recipes, extract brewing and small gravity adjustments.
How to use dry malt
Use the amount specified by your recipe, either as part of the fermentables or in place of some simple sugar. Dissolve it carefully in warm water or wort to prevent clumping before adding it to the batch.
- Pack size: 500g
- Unhopped light malt extract
- Adds body, malt flavour and head retention
Because it contributes both fermentables and flavour, replacing sugar with dry malt will produce a different result rather than acting as a flavour-neutral swap.
Compare a darker dry malt
For brown, mild and other darker ale recipes needing richer malt flavour and deeper colour, compare Dry Malt – Unhopped Dark. Both are 500g spray-dried unhopped malt extracts that add malt sugars and body; choose Light when retaining a paler beer colour matters.
