Campden tablets provide a measured source of sodium metabisulphite for winemaking and cider making. They can be used to treat fruit must before fermentation or help protect a finished wine or cider, depending on the recipe and stage.
How to use Campden tablets
Crush the required number of tablets and use the exact dose and timing stated on the tub or in a trusted recipe. Requirements vary with batch volume, pH and whether the tablets are being used before fermentation or at packaging.
- Approximately 100 tablets
- Resealable, tamper-proof tub
- Contains sodium metabisulphite and therefore sulphites
Avoid breathing the powder and do not guess the dosage, as excessive sulphite can inhibit yeast or affect the finished drink.
Smaller pack option
For lower-volume use, compare the HBC Campden Tablets – approximately 50.
Both listings contain sodium metabisulphite, but application and dose depend on the tub directions, batch volume, pH and process stage. Do not substitute a generic tablet dose.
