Still Selection: Starting With The Right Still

The key to success for new and experienced distillers alike is having the right still to meet your needs.

1. Space:

How much space do you have to dedicate to your equipment setup?

– Small footprints: part of the revolutionary innovation of equipment like the Air Still Pro is that it makes distilling accessible any space. Limited in space or not wanting to commit to a huge footprint?  The Air Still Pro and Air Still are perfect!

– Wide open spaces: if your customer has space, the T500 and accessories can absolutely fill it.  Plenty of space means plenty of room for more accessories and options to craft any spirit at greater volumes of 30L and more.

2. Hands-on Time:

Another key factor in choosing the right still is how much time you have/want to spend in terms of direct attention and hands-on time required to run your still.

Some stills are as easy as the press of a button, while others require more continued supervision while you craft.

3. Water/Resource Consumption:

Whether down to shear availability or eco-consciousness, we have still systems to meet any resource needs:

– No water needed to run the Air Still Pro and Air Still.  Cooled by build-in fans, now options for reflux AND pot distilling is at your fingertips.

– Plentiful water supply available or keen to create their own water conservation solutions.

4. On-the-go or staying put:

Distilling doesn’t have to be limited to one place – you can take the craft wherever you go!

5. Final Yields:

How much is are you looking to make in one single distillation?

– Bulk volumes: if you’re looking to make up to 8 L of spirit in a single distillation, then our larger capacity T500 Boiler may just be the ticket.

– A couple easy litres: if you’re are looking to make just a couple litres of spirit at a time, easily, and as needed, then the Air Still family of stills is a great way to go, matching convenience and quality to suit your needs.

6. Spirit Styles:

What kind of spirits do you want to make?

– Neutral: wanting to create quality neutral spirits to flavour with our range of Still Spirits flavourings?  Then reflux distilling is the key – consider either the T500 Reflux Still or the Air Still Pro.

– Flavoursome: Pot distillation is the key to flavoursome spirits like rums, whiskies, and brandies.  Consider the Alembic Pot Still or Air Still.

– I want it all … The Air Still Pro and T500 with Reflux and Alembic Dome & Condenser are great considerations.

7. Cost:

Still Spirits has flexible solutions for not just spirit style, space, and resource needs, but also budgets.

– Quality on a Budget: options like the Air Still and Air Still Pro provide a less expensive distilling option compared to their larger-volume counterparts without sacrificing capabilities or quality.

– Ready to spend to maximise: if you’re ready to dive all in for maximum volume, quality, and capabilities, the T500 Reflux still along with the Copper Dome and Alembic Condenser could be just the ticket.
